News

Calumet has many Educational and Social events throughout the year.  This Summer we had our annual combined Beer and Brat picnic with the members of the Illiana Power Squadron and a great time was had by all who attended.  We have also been very busy conducting Vessel exams at varies locations within the local area.

  • Change of Watch
    The Annual Change Of Watch is held every year in March before the Spring District Conference.  This is a festivity celebrating the installation of new officers and honoring Officers from the previous year for the commitments they made for the betterment of the Squadron.  This year the Change of Watch was March 3rd at the Royal Palace Restaurant, the outgoing commander is P/C Jonathan F. Gosse, AP and the incoming Commander is Cdr Brian J. Glim, AP.  The ceremony was officiated by D/Lt/C Robert Canfield, AP
  • White Elephant Sale

  • Each year the Calumet Power Squadron has a White Elephant sale at their May General meeting.  The sale is designed to raise money for our Education Department, so we can better serve the community through safety education classes.  May 4 was another successful sale lots of good food great prizes and our education department is well supported.
  • Beer and Brat
    The Beer and Brat is a combined annual event with the members of Calumet and Illiana Power Squadrons.  Hosted at the Yacht club in Indiana Harbor Marina the weather was beautiful and the food even better, thanks to Jim Algire the Chef, and the members of Illiana Power Squadron.  
  • Steak Fry
    This year our annual Steak Fry was held at the Coast Guard Station, Calumet Harbor.  Our chance to say thank you to the men of the Coast Guard for the outstanding job they do keeping our waters safe, we brought the steak fry to them and invited them to a steak lunch.  After lunch, the Coast Guard provide a tour of the facilities and a demonstration of their extensive training on boat handling.
